Species Information
- Monoecious tree growing up to 30 m tall. Evergreen in humid tropics but semi-deciduous in monsoon climates. Trunk 5-8 m tall with a diameter up to 0.6-1.8 m. Leaves ovate to elliptical leaves, alternate. Inflorescence axillary, male flower drooping, shaped like a club and the female flower stiffly upright, globose or cylindrical.

- A plant of the humid tropics, growing best in lowland areas below 650 m, though also succeeding at elevations up to 1550 m. It prefers deep, fertile and well-drained soil. Tolerant of a variety of soils so long as they are well drained.
