- Solitary feather-leafed palm up to 20 m tall, c. 20 cm in diameter. Slender grey-green crownshaft. The pinnate leaves arch strongly, 3-3.6 m long, with a short petiole. The inflorescence originates beneath the crownshaft and bears white flowers; 90-120 cm long. Fruits globose in large bunches, brightly red when ripe, c. 1.3 cm across. The species is monotypic, i.e., the genus only contains this species.
