Species Information
- Small evergreen tree. Dense crown. Leaves are a pair of leaflets with a strongly asymmetric base. Flowers c. 1.2 cm long, white, cauliflorous and on short unbranched clusters. Fruits 3-6 cm long, kidney-shaped, knobby, pale brown to yellowish with firm apple texture when ripe, hanging from the main trunk.
- Probably native to eastern Southeast Asia. Peninsular Malaysia, India, and Sri Lanka.
- Known mostly from planted trees in Southeast Asia, India and Sri Lanka
- It succeeds at elevations up to 400 m
