Species Information
- Small to big tree growing up to 40 m tall. Leaves are dimorphic, either awl-shaped or scale-like. Pollen and seed cones terminal on branchlets with adult leaves. Seeds on a swollen receptacle, red when ripe.
- South China, Thailand, Indochina, Sumatra, Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo, and the Philippines. The species was originally described from Penang Hill.
- Lower montane forests 825-1300 m altitude on ridges and summits, elsewhere as low as 100 m, often in wet places such as peat swamp forests and kerangas forests
