- Small deciduous tree growing up to 15 m tall. Leaves trifoliate, leaflets c. 4-9 cm long. Flowers are c. 5 cm long, dark crimson, in terminal racemes. Fruits are pods 10-18 cm long, curved, strap-shaped, and rather constricted between seeds.
