Species Information
- Evergreen tree growing up to 15 m tall. Trunk spiny when young. Whorled horizontal branches mature into a dense spreading crown. Leaves 7-21 cm long, ovate to elliptic with cordate base, margin entire to finely toothed. Flowers are unisexual, with solitary female flowers and dense clusters of male flowers. Fruits 5-8 cm across, flattened to spherical with many distinct grooves that become hard and ripening pale green to red-brown and dehiscing.
