Species Information

1. Description
  • Solitary fan-leafed palm up to 11 m tall, c. 25 cm in diameter. Petiole 1.2-1.8 m long armed with small teeth along its lower margins; the blade c. 1 m across, covered with silvery white wax and fluffy tomentum, very stiff and leathery. Male and female inflorescences are on different individuals, up to 2 m long. Fruits are egg- or pear-shaped, 5-7 cm long.
