- Deciduous or semi-evergreen tree growing up to 15 m tall. Bark deeply and irregularly cracked, thick and corky. Leaves 40-100 cm long, opposite, 2-3 times pinnate. Flowers 9-11 cm long, white, in branched and spreading clusters. Fruits 30-40 cm long, straight, flattened, splitting lengthwise, exposing winged seeds.
