Species Information
- Dioecious shrub or big tree growing up to 45 m tall, bole slightly fluted, branches spreading, forming a rounded or domed crown. Foliage branches with terminal buds, not globose. Leaves 15-20 cm long, linear-lanceolate. Pollen cones solitary or in clusters of 2-3 and axillary. Seed cones solitary with swollen receptacles ripening orange-red or bright red.
- From eastern Nepal and Bangladesh through Southeast Asia, the Andaman Islands, South and south-west China, Papuasia to Fiji
- Usually on summits and ridges in lower and upper montane forests from 850 m, sometimes on quartzite or limestone outcrops or in heath forests on sandstone; 125-225 m altitude
