1. Description
  • Deciduous tree growing up to 30 m tall and over 2 m in diameter. Crown large and symmetrical. Leaves bi-pinnately compound, leaflets in pairs of 3-9 closing at dusk or before a storm, thus, the name 'rain tree'. Flowers are pink to purple in simple heads on slender stalks. Fruits flattened pods, 15-20 cm long ripening black.
