Species Information
- Similar to Washingtonia filifera but differs from it by being taller by up to 27 m, having a thinner trunk, a tighter, more compact crown, and fewer hair-like fibres on the leaves. The petioles are shorter and, in younger individuals, reddish brown, especially near the base, and always bear reddish brown spines, even when young. The inflorescences, flowers and fruits of both species are similar.
