Species Information
- Solitary feather-leaved palm growing up to 14 m tall, 20-25 cm in diameter. Trunk bottle-shaped and crown with 10 leaves. Crownshaft c. 90 cm long, smooth, green. Petioles short, rachis 2.4-3 m long with many leaflets growing from different angles in a plume-like arrangement. Inflorescence much-branched below the crownshaft with yellowish-green flowers of both sexes. Ovoid fruits 5 cm long, ripening orange-red.
- The species is endemic to the Cape York Peninsula of Queensland, Australia. It is a monotypic palm; only this species represents its genus.
